But I can’t help but feel excitement seeing this. Public roads are no place to do driving like this, but I found this video extremely entertaining and hitting right in my car-loving gut.

It’s NFS: Underground 2 come to life

Blind corners, crossing lines, weaving through traffic, riding people’s bumpers when they’re “in the way”...

...yeah fuck these pieces of shit, I hope they wreck into a tree.

This is giving me serious nostalgia for NFS Underground 2...

And yes it is irresponsible, dangerous and dumb, but I’ve done shit like this and I’m willing to bet most people on here have too.

I hope they don’t take someones life in that inevitable wreck. But yeah, Colombia is full of speed freaks.

I don’t think as extreme as these guys, but driving “enthusiastically” of course.

The action is so much better than most movies.

Nope - wouldn’t risk it - the one ‘maybe’ where something happens and I kill/injure myself, or worse, others is too great a responsibility. It only takes one person to start turning into your lane, or a small kid to take 1 step into the street to cause something you would regret for the rest of your life.

Oh yeah definitely not, and I think the fact they were driving in a convoy exacerbated their behavior.

But if I were in the same situation; with a quick car on a mostly deserted and well-lit highway, I’m not ashamed to admit that I wouldn’t be going the speed limit either. “Taking it to the track” is a noble idea, but I enjoy cars all the time.

See my reply to Vicente; I should’ve clarified more. Yes, the extent of what these people are doing is dumb and I wouldn’t personally do it myself.

No worries mate, just saying I don’t think it’s worth the risk as well! :)

Ah, brings back memories... Colombia has damn good driving roads all over the place, they’re just always clogged. Many a shenanigans were had by me in my teens, but I rarely went as hard as this. My parents thankfully also waited until I was gone to start buying turbo cars. This climb is right outside Medellín, the second largest city, and therefore at what would be considered very high altitude in the US.

I have no tracks around, just one for drag racing. And I concur, the need to enjoy a back road at higher than normal speed must be satisfied.

Turbo’s in that environment are a MUST.

Well, they are if you wanna keep up. It’s kinda fun (and safe) being able to floor it everywhere without endangering everyone.

The recent downsize + turbo trend hasn’t caused that big of a performance gain in most models, but in high altitude locales (doubly so where taxation is based on displacement), the performance gains have been massive!

Stay classy, Colombia. I’ve been on this road in Medellin several times. It’s a nice road and all, but this is just downright ridiculous.

Also, those Euro tail lights on the GTI look so cool.

The GTI surprised the hell out of me, keeping up like a champ.

Good point. I drove a new 440i M Sport and I liked it better than the 2015 435i M Sport I drove a while back. That new B58 is an incredible engine.

I am dying to drive an M140i. A hatchback with an engine that powerful has to be a blast. (Also lighter than M240i).
